Up-to-date news about India and Canada: View the most recent updates on the bilateral ties between Canada and India as a result of Trudeau's accusations.

Started off with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's

Recent news between India and Canada: The beginning of this week was marked by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's claim that there is a "potential link" between Indian government operatives and the June murder of pro-Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which aggravated already strained bilateral ties between New Delhi and Ottawa.

India released a travel warning for its citizens who are travelling to Canada.

India categorically denied the claims, labelling them as "absurd and motivated." Following Trudeau's statement, a slew of retaliatory moves were taken, including the expulsion of senior government figures from both India and Canada.

In a recent act of retaliation, India issued a travel advisory for its residents visiting Canada, advising them to use "utmost caution" in light of the rise in anti-Indian sentiment and hate crimes.

Even while the US responded to Trudeau's assertions by stating that it was "deeply concerned," Canada's closest friends, including the US, had already rejected its request to officially denounce the execution of separatist leader Nijjar.

India-Canada news updates: US asks New Delhi to cooperate in Nijjar killing probe

According to national security spokesman John Kirby, the White House is "deeply concerned" about the claims that Indian operatives may have been involved in the killing of a Sikh separatist leader in Canada and invites India to participate in any probe.

The killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, 45, in British Columbia in June, according to credible reports, was being aggressively investigated by domestic security services, according to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's announcement on Monday.

Regarding the accusations, Kirby stated, "We are deeply concerned." In addition, he said, "We encourage India to fully cooperate."

US ‘coordinating’ with Canada, ‘engaging’ with India amid diplomatic standoff

In response to allegations that India was involved in the murder of separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the United States has denied rebuking Canada and said that Washington is "coordinating and consulting" with Ottawa and "engaging" with New Delhi.

Reports that we rejected Canada in any way about this are categorically untrue, according to Adrienne Watson, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council. On this matter, we are actively collaborating and discussing with Canada.

We support Canada's continued law enforcement operations since this is a serious issue. The Indian government is also being involved by us.
The paper emphasised the difficulties the Biden administration faces in maintaining cordial ties with both India and Canada.

India-Canada news updates: New Delhi issues travel warning; asks to ‘exercise utmost caution’

India warned its residents in Canada to exercise "utmost caution" due to an increase in anti-Indian activities and hate crimes a day after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's claim that India was involved in the murder of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar sparked a diplomatic controversy.

The external affairs ministry stated there are threats against Indian community members who "oppose the anti-India agenda" in a warning directed to Indian nationals, students, and individuals who want to go to Canada.

The warning was a reflection of the deteriorating bilateral ties, which were brought on by Canada's alleged lack of response to India's demands for action against pro-Khalistan elements operating out of Canadian territory.

The warning advised all Indian nationals in Canada and those considering travel to take extreme vigilance in light of the rise in anti-Indian activities, politically-tolerated hate crimes, and violent criminality.

Threats have recently targeted Indian diplomats and Indians who reject the anti-India agenda, the statement continued.
