From September
18 to September 22, Parliament will meet in extraordinary session. An all-party meeting has been scheduled for
September 17, the day before the opening of the extraordinary session of Parliament, by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister
Pralhad Joshi.
Invitation sent to concerned leaders through email meeting 17th at 4.30 PM,
The minister announced the meeting on social networking site X, previously Twitter, writing, "An all-party floor leaders meeting has been called on the 17th at 4.30 PM, ahead of the parliament session from the 18th of this month.
"The identical invitation has been emailed to the concerned leaders. "Letter to come," he continued.
Despite Joshi's pledge that the special session's agenda will be distributed "very shortly" on September 1, the administration has stayed mum on the subject.
"We've convened a session of Parliament, and there are crucial issues. The agenda would be distributed very soon, Joshi said, according to PTI.
The minister had said There is enough time
The minister had added, "There is ample time, and necessary statutory time for the distribution of agenda would be observed.
Opposition has criticised the BJP-led central government
The BJP-led federal government has come under fire from the opposition for breaking established traditions by summoning a special session of Parliament without making the agenda public.
Sonia Gandhi wrote to PM Narendra Modi last week
"Starting on September 18, 2023, you have called a special five-day session of the Parliament. I must emphasise that no other political parties were consulted prior to calling this Special Session. None of us are aware of its objectives, she said in her letter.
Sonia Gandhi said five days have been allocated for Government Business
We have only been informed that all five days have been set aside for official business. We absolutely wish to take part in the Special Session because it would provide us the chance to discuss issues that are crucial to the people and important, said Sonia Gandhi.
Typically, there are three legislative sessions every year: the budget, monsoon, and winter sessions.
It would be the first such special session during the nine years of the administration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On June 30, 2017, a special joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha was called to commemorate the midnight launch of the GST.
While both Houses will convene separately as they often do during sessions, this time it will be a full-fledged five-day session.
