On Friday morning, the first charter flight to bring Indian nationals who were stuck in Israel due to the ongoing conflict landed in New Delhi. Under "Operation Ajay," the aeroplane, which was carrying 212 Indians, including an infant, took off on Thursday night from Israel's Ben Gurion airport. The passengers were reportedly selected on a "first come, first serve" basis.

Operation Ajay begins, said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar as he posted images of the first stranded persons being repatriated on X, formerly known as Twitter. On board, 212 passengers are travelling to New Delhi.
Government launched ‘Operation Ajay’ on Wednesday
'Operation Ajay' was started by the government on Wednesday in an effort to rescue trapped nationals from Israel, which is now engaged in severe combat with the terrorist organisation Hamas. As the conflict began on October 7, Air India and other airlines stopped all of their commercial flights to and from Israel.

"Starting #OperationAjay to help our countrymen who want to return to Israel who wish to return. Special charter flights as well as additional arrangements are being made Fully devoted to the security and welfare of our citizens while they are travelling, S. Jaishankar had stated on X.
The Indians will return on specially chartered planes as part of this operation, and if necessary, Indian Navy ships would also be sent out.
