The American rapper COOLIO, well known for his 1995 hit "coolio gangsta's paradise" has passed away. Age-wise, he was 59.
In Los Angeles, the Grammy-winning musician passed away. No immediate explanation for the death was given.
Jarez Posey, a close friend and Coolio's longtime manager, told AFP that the report was true but withheld any further information.

Rapper coolio gangsta's paradise, a Grammy winner best known for the songs Gangsta's Paradise and Fantastic Voyage, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 59, according to his manager. Longtime manager Jarez Posey confirmed to The Associated Press that Coolio passed away at a friend's house in Los Angeles. The reason wasn't immediately obvious. Gangsta's Paradise, a 1995 hit from the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer movie Dangerous Minds that sampled Stevie Wonder's 1976 song Pastime Paradise and was played constantly on MTV.
History of coolio gangsta's paradise
The musician, who was born Artis Leon Ivey Jr. on August 1, 1963, spent the majority of his childhood in Compton, California, where he attended community college and had jobs like airport security before becoming a successful rap artist.
In the late 1980s, Coolio started his music career in California. By 1994, when he signed with Tommy Boy Records, he had established roots in the Los Angeles music scene.
His debut studio album "It Takes a Thief" featured the hit "Fantastic Voyage," which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song "coolio gangsters paradise" from the following year, however, is what really cemented Coolio's fame.
When the coolio rapper released the coolio songs for the "Dangerous Minds" album, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, he shot to international popularity.
