Cases of Covid Omicron Subvariant BF.7 in India: Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center discovered the country's first BF.7 case in October. One case has so far been recorded from Odisha, while two instances have so far been reported from Gujarat.
Covid Omicron Subvariant BF.7 cases in India:
According to government sources, at least four cases of the Omicron subvariant BF.7, which appears to be the strain causing the recent spike in Covid cases in China, have been discovered in India. Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center discovered the first case of BF.7 in India in October. According to them, two instances have so far been reported from Gujarat and one case from Odisha.
However, the Gujarat Health Department reports that in July-October-November-2022, two patients with Omicron BF.7 & BF.12 variant infections were reported. These individuals underwent home isolation therapy and are now fully recovered.

Experts noted there needs to be ongoing surveillance to keep track of both existing and emerging varieties, even if there hasn't been a general increase in Covid caseload as of yet, in the Covid review meeting on Wednesday, which was presided over by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
The extremely contagious Omicron strain, primarily BF.7, which is the major variety circulating in Beijing and is causing a greater rise in Covid infections in that country, is currently affecting Chinese cities, according to official sources.
