Laxman lost his life while doing his duties in Siachen, the world's most militarised region where troops must contend with strong winds and cold.
Support for the bereaved family of Laxman
The Additional Directorate General of Public Information, IHQ of MoD (Army), expressed support for Laxman's bereaved family on social media, stating that "it was important to clarify" the emoluments to the next of kin "in view of conflicting messages on social media regarding financial assistance."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called Agniveer a scheme devised
The explanation was made in response to Congressman Rahul Gandhi's accusation that Agniveer is a plan designed to "insult" India's heroic heroes and that the families of Agniveers who die as a martyr receive no pension or other benefits. The BJP has refuted this accusation.
Gandhi expressed his sadness at the news of Agniveer Laxman's passing in Siachen and posted a photo of the soldier.
"My deepest condolences to his family," he said.
"A young man gave his life in defence of the nation; he received no pension for his martyrdom, no gratuity, and no other military benefits for his service.
Gandhi said on X that "Agniveer is a plan to insult the heroes of India."
Amit Malviya, the chairman of the BJP's IT unit, called the accusation "absolute trash and irresponsible."
