The journey duration along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor will be less than an hour, passing via the cities of Muradnagar, Modinagar, and Ghaziabad.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated
At Sahibabad RapidX Station on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the priority portion of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor. In addition, he signalled the beginning of the Regional Rapid Transit System in India by lighting the RapidX train that runs from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot. On Thursday, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri declared that the RRTS trains will be dubbed "Namo Bharat."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate it to the nation on October 20
"The RRTS project's priority corridor, which relates to the goals of countless numbers of people, is prepared to move forward. On October 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate it to the country. 'Namo Bharat' will be the name of the nation's Regional Rapid Transit System,' Puri said on social media.
The Indian Railways is already running semi-high-speed trains -- 'Vande Bharat' -- in different parts of the country.
It's a shuttle train that comes under NCRTC from Meerut to Delhi
Philipp Ackermann, the German ambassador to India, expressed his gratitude and privilege at being at the launch site, saying, "I am incredibly honoured and fortunate to be here today...The quickest train in India to date, it's an incredible project. There is a shuttle train that runs from Meerut to Delhi under the NCRTC. It moves at 160 km per hour. Deutsche Bahn, a German train business, is in charge of it.
Total of eight RRTS corridors have been identified for development
In the National Capital Region (NCR), eight RRTS routes have been designated for development. Three of these routes have been given first priority for Phase I execution. These corridors are the Delhi-Panipat, the Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar, and the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut.
Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS, with a total project cost exceeding ₹30,000 crore
With a project cost of about ₹30,000 crore, the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS would connect Delhi and Meerut in less an hour, passing via the cities of Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar.
According to a government statement, RRTS will offer high-speed intercity commuter trains every 15 minutes, with the option to reduce the frequency to as little as every 5 minutes if necessary. The trains have a design speed of 180 km/h.
