Delhi reports the first case of JN.1

According to authorities, Delhi has reported the first incidence of the COVID-19 subvariant JN.1, as reported by news agency PTI.

The Union ministry of health and family welfare has published the updated Covid-19 surveillance plan, and states have been encouraged to ensure effective compliance with operational instructions. They have requested that all medical institutions routinely track and report district-level instances of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and influenza-like illness (ILI) in order to identify any emerging trends in cases as soon as possible.
